Character History: You have two options for the history requirement:
1) Write the full history of your character out (especially if your canon is obscure).

2) Link to a detailed wikia page for your character and provide your own bullet point summary of your character’s history.

Character Personality: Please be as detailed as possible so that we have a good picture of the character. What makes this character tick? What are their strengths and weaknesses? Minimum three paragraphs.

Network: Your network sample entry should be made as if your character were posting to a public network, such as Dreamwidth. It does not have to be their first post (ie, "OMG WHERE AM I?!"), but it does have to show that the character is perfectly aware of the fact that this is something that other people are likely to see. Please avoid excessive use of descriptions in [action tags] here, as one would get in video posts - we're looking for your character's voice, the one they use for talking to others. Save the internal monologues for the third person sample.

If you use TDM for your network sample it needs to meet the following requirements:
* Taken from the Test Drive Meme for The Wake and not any other game
* Contains at least 12 comments from the character being applied for
* Contains enough material for us to see how the character is like
* Has to reflect their first person voice

Third Person: 300 word minimum. This is the place to show your character's inner thoughts within the setting. Give us a nice third person narrative of your character doing something, plus how they feel about it. This doesn't have to be blatant "this is what my character is thinking, designated by italics!" but should rather show your character's self via their actions and interactions with their environment.

Hello, and thank you for your interest in The Wake! Before we consider your application for approval, we'd like to ask for some revisions.

First, we'd like a re-edit of the history section to tighten the backstory to improve its flow and conveying of core information. It currently contains a lot of detailed information on everything (vs. only on key moments) and it unfortunately muddles our understanding of the character and leaves us confused.

It is great to include a lot of details in applications to further understanding of the material and to provide points to echo back to for the other sections. However, many key parts are unfortunately getting lost in the shear amount of provided information as we read through it especially with the inclusion of full passages from the source material rather than just the parts that are pertinent to the explanation.

We advise you to please not copy and paste entire pages from the source material because it makes it difficult to see your own understanding of the character.

Lastly, we'd like the network sample to be more fleshed out. It does provide a glipse back into what was written in her backstory but we're unsure if she is a character that speaks in brief flashes or likes to talk further.

Okay, took out the passages from the history section that came from the book, and tightened it up as best I could. Since you didn't mention the other sections other than history and the network sample, I didn't touch the other sections.

Since she does tend to speak in brief flashes unless prompted, I'm going to write a second network sample; because she is hard to write monologuing unless there is some extreme case, like when she had to explain about Steffi and Jade to the Hawklord. Otherwise she's usually more content to swear and react, than she is inclined towards speeches. It may be Michelle Sagara's writing style, much of the dialogue is short speak and react bursts, not just from Kaylin. Since Kaylin is the character we ride along with in the series, I tend to give her more thought posts and set up, and less dialogue in starters, and the second sample reflects that.

Also cleaned up the last sample a bit.

This is where I would make a joke about Kaylin and paperwork, but don't want to tick off Marcus.

Hello, and thank you for your interest in The Wake! Before we consider your application for approval, we'd like to ask for some revisions as well as clarifications on your character's details.

First, we would like some clarification concerning Zagreus. Is he an alternate personality, or is he involved in a possession type situation?

In terms of powers, we'd have to nerf the Eighth Doctor's ability to erase memories as this falls under the same category as rewriting memories. This would be something restricted by Bending Rules (http://thewakemods.dreamwidth.org/10943.html#cutid2). We would still ask for asking other players for permission to read their characters' minds.

We'd also want to nerf his ability to see the futures of other characters as it can get pretty complicated even if we are only talking about their canon futures.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Sure thing! I'm happy to have that ability nerfed and also to have the post regarding mind reading, and I'm happy to also lose the seeing the futures thing since yep it can get pretty complex so I'm happy to lose that potential mine field (he can really get far too relaxed about giving away things at times anyway so it's probably just easier to avoid it).

As for Zagreus, it's probably closer to an alternate personality. The scenario is the Doctor absorbed a large amount of anti-time which ended up creating Zagreus within him, but the name 'Zagreus' was taken from a Time Lord bogeyman and wasn't a real figure, and the personality created is essentially the Doctor's darker aspects in one. He's angry and vengeful and violent, unlike the Eighth Doctor's idealistic, gentle nature. Later on in the series the anti-time is removed from the Doctor and becomes a complete entity in its own right (a woman by the name of Perfection) and is markedly different; calmer if occasionally petulant and even flirty, only showing signs of anger and violence when provoked.

The point I chose to take Eight from has the Zagreus personality suppressed (though Wakened) in his mind thanks to the zero matter treatment he was given, so he's not going to be switching between personalities constantly or without warning and could likely keep it under control with Bending (giving him a reason to practise it and seek help from others), but it is currently a part of him and could potentially become relevant.

That said, if the mods would prefer him not to have that personality aspect, I can switch the canon point forward a bit to when he's rid of it.
